Table Top Thai Yoga Massage
Table Thai Massage brings the benefits of Thai massage to the comfort of a massage table. The therapist uses a series of compressions, acupressure and stretches over the whole body which has the initial effect of loosening the muscles.
The hallmarks of Thai massage, including table Thai massage, include: the use of momentum and gravity rather than muscular strength; work along energy lines called sen lines; rocking; and range-of-motion assisted stretching.
The origins of Thai massage are thought to date back to ancient India, and Ayurvedic traditions integrated throughout the sequences as well as the theory.
How is it carried out
Thai massage is it is traditionally performed with the client fully clothed and with no oils. As suggested it takes place on a massage table with the client clothed (preferably with loose fitting clothing). The client will adopt a number of lying positions led by the therapist.
The therapist works round the whole body, arms, legs, back, hips, shoulders and neck using their hands, arms and feet, applying acupressure and stretching techniques.
The majority of technique adaptation comes from shifting the therapist’s body position. Occasionally the therapist get onto the table with the client, using the table almost like a floor mat for a number of techniques, in order to enhance the benefit of the particular movement.
